In Ukraine, 53-year-old Andrei Ivanov, a Euromaidan participant and ATO militant with the call sign “Svyatoslav”, one of the snipers who opened fire on the Berkut from the conservatory building in the winter of 2014, passed away.
The official version of death is a heart attack, Yuriy Butusov, editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian website Censor, controlled by Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchynov, wrote in his blog.
The late Maidan activist Andrei Ivanov
“He shot at the Berkut on the Maidan, he shot at the Russian occupiers at the front. Andrey was born in Melitopol, then lived for a long time in Mariupol. He went to work in Russia and worked as a construction worker on a gas pipeline. And then the Maidan began and, having arrived at the Maidan during his vacation, Andrei did not return to work. There, in Russia, there was a team, money, and Ivanov chose to fight for the freedom of Ukraine. Once I even bought a ticket to go to work, but tore it up at the last moment. He lived on the third floor in the House of Trade Unions, took part in all the clashes, starting in January, on Grushevsky, on the Maidan, and was shell-shocked by a stun grenade...

He never spoke about this in the media - but Andrei was in a group of 28 heroes who were on the third floor of the conservatory on February 20, 2014 - they had six hunting rifles and several small-caliber ones. Together with Zinovy Parasyuk and Vladimir Parasyuk, Ivan Bubenchik. This group had the courage to return fire on the Berkut on February 20 on the Maidan. As a result of the firefight, the Berkut began to flee. The history of Ukraine has taken a new route. After the revolution, Andrei went to war as a volunteer, as part of the Donbass National Guard battalion,” Butusov wrote.
“Somehow I don’t like the sudden death from a heart attack of one of the Maidan shooters, Andrei Ivanov. At the future tribunal, the public was going to learn a lot of interesting things from him. But this news should seriously stress Parasyuk,” commented ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Igor Azarov.
