The task of the communists is to win the second round of elections for the mayor of Moscow
Communists in the Moscow mayoral elections will fight to reach the second round and defeat the current mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
Vadim Kumin, a candidate from the left, spoke about this in an interview with Novaya Gazeta.
“Our task is the second round. Politically this is possible, since we expect to receive the votes of those who gave them to Navalny and Melnikov in 2013. In total, this is almost 40%,” he said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Kumin explained that the Communists are counting on getting votes from Muscovites who are disillusioned with the liberal opposition.
“In 2013, Alexei Navalny offered Moscow something truly new, fresh and interesting - and the citizens reacted very seriously. But a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. Today, Navalny’s representative Ilya Yashin showed his inability to engage in any constructive political struggle, and his nomination ended in a complete fiasco,” explained the candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
