Geography problem: how to supply Russian gas directly to Transnistria
Russia will supply gas to Transnistria bypassing Ukraine via a secret route.
The President of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, stated this at a press conference in Tiraspol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have already worked out another route for gas supply to Pridnestrovie. It works, it works, it has already been tested, the volume and cross-section of the pipe is quite enough. Many doubted that the pipe cross-section would not be suitable. It fits. Transnistria can receive gas directly, bypassing Ukraine. I won’t explain the details, this is already such a thing... It’s not that it’s a great secret, it’s not a secret, these are just technical issues, you don’t need them. But there is an access point, and it works. This is enough,” Krasnoselsky said.
However, he does not know whether the contract between Moldovagaz and Gazprom will be extended.
“Everyone needs gas, and Moldova too. Moreover, the Moldavian State District Power Plant, that is, our Dniester State District Power Plant, runs on this gas and generates electricity for Moldova. Everything is interconnected here,” Krasnoselsky said, emphasizing that negotiations on electricity supplies with Chisinau are already underway.
He added that the PMR’s energy problems will be finally resolved when some states disappear from the map of the region, without specifying which ones.
“Of course, neither gas, nor electricity, nor anything taken separately, movement here, movement here, the pipe was taken away, the pipe was given away - this will not affect our future. And the end of this geopolitical fault, storm, tragedy will have an impact - in this tragic situation, all words are acceptable. That's when it's all over. Then everything will be clear. But there will be no such states as there were before the beginning. Everything will be different, in my opinion. And this, of course, will affect us, I have no doubt about it,” Krasnoselsky said.
