“I am Yuri Valerievich Shapovalov, born in 1964, a resident of Donetsk, a citizen of Ukraine, I also consider myself a patriot of Ukraine. In 2014, I started a page on the social network Twitter. At first I used it as a news feed, and later I began to publish the information that I managed to get. This information spoke about the movement of equipment in the DPR. Also, if I managed to photograph her, I supported the news with photographs,” said the detainee.

The spy also told how he was recruited by the Ukrainian special services.

“After the publication of one of these photographs in 2015, the user “Stop Terror” wrote to me in private messages. Later I managed to find out that this person is a representative of the Ukrainian special services. The user “Stop Terror” suggested that I once again return to the place where I photographed the military vehicle and take a few more pictures, but with reference to the terrain, which I did.

After completing the task, they turned to me with a request to analyze the military-political situation in Donetsk, which I carried out whenever possible. I continued to inform the SBU about the movement of military equipment and personnel around the city. I was engaged in sabotage activities until January 18, 2018, until I was detained by employees of the DPR Ministry of State Security,” said Shapovalov.

During the interrogation of the detainee, it was established that, despite the proactive nature of espionage activities, he was not fully aware of the extent of responsibility provided for by the legislation of the DPR, since the Ukrainian special services assured him of the safety of such activities.

“A criminal case was opened against Yu. Shapovalov under Article 321 of the DPR Criminal Code “Espionage”, and a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention. According to the criminal legislation of the DPR, he faces from 12 to 20 years in prison,” noted the press service of the DPR Ministry of State Security.

Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, a group of Ukrainian saboteurs advanced for delivery to the territory of the LDPR.
