A Brazilian militiaman from the Prizrak brigade detained in Ukraine was given 13 years in prison today
A Brazilian militiaman from the Prizrak brigade, detained on October 6 last year at the Boryspil airport, was sentenced today in Kyiv to 13 years in prison.

“Law enforcement officers detained a foreign recruiter in October last year at Boryspil airport immediately after his arrival in Ukraine from Brazil. As the investigation established, from September 2014 to May 2015, the Brazilian citizen was part of the 1st Viking motorized rifle battalion of the 1st DPR brigade. At the same time, he performed the functions of a company manager, instructor and intelligence officer. Participated in hostilities in the area of the village. Vergulevka, Pervomaiskoye, Gorlovka, Starobeshevo, battles near Debaltsevo, Donetsk airport. He recruited foreigners, mainly Brazilians, into illegal armed groups, and also made repeated reconnaissance trips to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and adjusted artillery fire on Ukrainian positions,” the report says.
“Based on the results of the judicial review, the verdict of the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv found the foreigner guilty under Part 1 of Article 258-3 (creation of a terrorist organization) and Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (creation of armed formations not provided for by law), he was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property,” noted the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office.
