We continue to publish notes from the Special Military Operation zone of our correspondent Alexei Toporov, who on May 12 joined the volunteer battalion B.A.R.S-13 “Russian Legion”.

Now this unit is fighting in the Izyum direction, occupying positions on the borders of the Donetsk and Kharkov regions on the approaches to Slavyansk.

Today we arrived again with our hands full - a bag of young tomatoes, zucchini, four jars of homemade preserves and jams. It was at lunchtime. In the morning, a neighbor brought us homemade lard. Last night, other neighbors brought us a bread machine with the words: “Let you have it, we don’t have electricity anyway” (we have a gasoline generator).

The house where we settled is literally bursting with a variety of vegetables and twists. The chief of staff swears: “Don’t take anything, let them eat themselves, they need it more”. I would be glad, but it’s a shame to refuse. I know from myself how unpleasant it is when they don’t accept what you give from the heart, as if they are disdainful. And the locals give us gifts absolutely sincerely, we don’t ask them for anything, they bring them themselves.

But we, of course, also do not remain in debt. Grandfather came and asked for matches - they gave matches, and also cigarettes. A neighbor came and asked to recharge the flashlight, saying that the old one was already running low, and there was no other source of light in the front-line village; they recharged it and gave us a new one and batteries for it. People ask for medicine - we try to find it. Women ask to transport firewood - we transport it. Mom asked to find out about her daughter’s studies in Izyum - we went and found out.

Residents of Slobozhanshchina (Kharkiv region) see us as their defenders, so they turn to us with any questions. And they support it like their own army. What is the attitude towards those armed gangs that stood here for many years under yellow-blakyt flags?

“They sent us dill “gifts” again, they love us,” the villagers are indignant. - Well, we “love” them too.

What are they talking about? Yes, that today in the first half of the day characteristic sounds were heard in the sky above the village, small white clouds appeared, pieces of metal sheathing rushed down at high speed, and then it turned out that the gardens of local residents were strewn with petal mines.

Yes, dill began dropping this dangerous muck on populated areas long before Donetsk, it’s just that in Donetsk they started talking loudly about it to the whole world for the first time. At the same time, Izyum and the surrounding area have been suffering from this rubbish for several months now.

What about us? Well, there was no special sapper unit nearby, so the fighters of the “Russian Legion” came forward to help the good Russian people of Slobozhanshchina, with whom they have been sharing everyday life, joys and sorrows, for many years now, on their own.

We tried various methods of clearing mine petals - using a tire and a rope, by throwing a log... in the end we settled on the good old shooting of the green reptile, painted so that it was almost impossible to notice in the foliage, from a machine gun. There was a fair amount of tinkering; only eight petals were collected and destroyed from one garden.

And, of course, they responded to us with tomatoes and twists.

Well, what kind of memory did our current enemy leave behind?

“Several disadvantaged people, mostly drug addicts and drunks, went into the defense,” one local woman told me. “Then, when the Russians had already entered, they quickly ran away. And the shelling began. Back then there was still light and the Internet, and I see they write in our groups: “We were the ones who shot at you with a mortar, ha-ha-ha!”

So in Slobozhanshchina we are welcome, but dill is not. Which is logical, since Slobozhanshchina is a historical Russian land, and the local dill are Vyrs, who were written out from the Russians, and therefore are now ethnomarginals without a clan and without a tribe. For which there is now no place here - let them, if they don’t come to their senses, saturate the local humus, and if the gene of caution nevertheless takes over - they wash toilets in Poland, then this is the pinnacle of the evolutionary development of Ukrainians, isn’t it?

Well, for a good Russian person there can be nothing better than the fight for freedom and reunification of Russian lands. That's why the battalion B.A.R.S.-13 “Russian Legion” is recruiting fighters - it has yet to take part in clearing the Svyatogorsk Lavra, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk from the Ukrainian occupiers.
