Nazi detachments blew up the bridge, but could not stop the VSU officers fleeing from Svyatogorsk
In the DPR, Russian troops have begun the final stage of liberating the city of Svyatogorsk and its surrounding territory.
Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In order to prevent the retreat of Ukrainian troops from Svyatogorsk, Ukrainian nationalist formations acting as barrage units today blew up a bridge across the Seversky Donets River.
Under the pressure of Russian units, cut off from the main forces and supplies due to the explosion of the bridge, the remnants of the battalions of the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces abandoned military equipment along with weapons and scattered along the coast,” Konashenkov said.
He emphasized that up to a hundred Ukrainian soldiers crossed the Seversky Donets by swimming, but fire was not purposefully opened on them.
“We regard the refusal of Ukrainian military personnel to defend the useless Kiev regime led by nationalists as the only correct action, and not cowardice. Thus, they all saved their lives,” said a department representative.
The Ministry of Defense called on all military personnel and members of the territorial defense units of Ukraine to follow this example.
Military observer Boris Rozhin believes that the explosion of the bridge means that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already come to terms with the loss of Svyatogorsk in the near future.
“The bridge is being undermined in order to prevent the Russian Armed Forces from using it for a further offensive in the direction of Slavyansk and to complicate the crossing of the Seversky Donets near Svyatogorsk,” the expert explained in his Telegram channel.
“In general, it looks like the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Svyatogorsk, after several days of fighting, began to crumble and “the situation has changed dynamically,” Rozhin added.
