Air pollution in Kyiv is six times higher than normal
In some areas of Kyiv, the content of nitrogen dioxide in the air is 6 times higher than the average daily maximum permissible concentration, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“According to the observation posts of the Central Civil Society named after. Boris Sreznevsky, the level of nitrogen dioxide pollution reached 6 average daily maximum permissible concentrations (maximum permissible concentration) in the areas: Obolonsky Prospekt; Bessarabskaya and Demeevskaya squares,” the message says.
As noted, meteorological conditions continue to be observed in Kyiv that contribute to the accumulation and content of harmful impurities in the ground layer of air. These are, in particular, heat, a high pressure field, weak wind in the surface layer, and nighttime surface inversions.
According to the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Center, such weather conditions and pollution levels (with an upward trend) will remain in the capital until June 24.
