There has long been its own republic, call it what you like, the local elites, that is, bandits, completely control the region, successfully settle all issues with Kiev and earn as they please, observing only their own rules and laws.”
To confirm its words, the Ukrainian magazine says that the smuggling industry in Transcarpathia relies on its own police, SBU and customs.
“Even the local head of the Regional State Administration, Vasyl Gubal, does not hesitate to say that the redistribution of smuggling flows in Transcarpathia has always been determined by “legal means,” and this is not a reservation,” Ukrainian Tyzhden recalls. “They could try to secede or organize something like in the Donbass, they could ask to go to Hungary or Romania, declare their autonomy, and there would be little they could do... But why the extra trouble when everything is working as it is? More precisely, it worked. Until recently".
