The head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, stated this at today's press conference in Donetsk.
“Poroshenko brought the troops to full combat readiness. Volunteer battalions can launch a provocation at any time. Therefore we must be prepared. We have taken a number of measures to strengthen security. Including a ban on vacations and the recall of those ministers who were already on vacation,” Zakharchenko said.
According to him, the DPR is considering three possible directions of strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but today there is no exact information on where exactly they will strike.
“Therefore, we are preparing for all possible scenarios and raising the overall combat effectiveness of the units,” noted the head of the republic.
According to him, an inspection of all bomb shelters has been going on for three days.
“Today, 70 percent of the bomb shelters are ready. But we physically cannot accommodate all the residents of Donetsk in bomb shelters. It was decided to convert the basements of houses and administrative buildings into bomb shelters. Additionally, by the end of this week, about 15-170 bomb shelters will be put into operation. Measures for evacuating residents from front-line areas in the event of an escalation of the military situation are provided. We already went through this in 2014 and 2015,” Zakharchenko noted.
