Zakharchenko to the mother of a rebel from Slavyansk: Your son will return home as a liberator
The militia will return to Slavyansk as hero-liberators, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, assured during a “direct line” on TV. This is how the DPR leader answered a question from a TV viewer who spoke about repressions against her family members.
“Question from Slavyansk. My son joined the militia back in the summer of 2014, now there are severe repressions against me and my children, we are tired of this, I really want to see my son at home, but this, alas, is impossible, he is on the criminal wanted list of the SBU, he is facing the sentence, at best, is 10–15 years for “separatism.” Tell me, how much longer can we tolerate this chaos?” - said the woman.

“I want to say thank you not only to this woman for her son, I want to say thank you to all those who are now in that territory under the Ukrainian regime, whose sons, husbands, children went to fight in 2014-2015 - a deep bow to the mothers, fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, for those fighters whom they sent to fight at the call of their hearts, whose families are now suffering under the occupation of our enemy.
I cannot give the exact date, but I am sure that your child will return home not as a criminal, but as a hero who liberated his land, who did not break, but turned out to be a real man.
Let your son be on any wanted list; neither the SBU, nor Poroshenko, nor the authorities of Kyiv are a decree for us. For them, he may be a criminal, and we will greet this man with flowers. For us he is a hero. And we are absolutely not interested in their opinion,” Zakharchenko said.
