The reason was the phrases in an interview with the Expert publication. “I just wrote my resignation letter. You are now sitting next to a man who in two and a half hours may no longer be prime minister. I didn't sleep all night yesterday. We were deciding what to do next, and we decided not to retreat. But if I don’t leave this post now, then I will become a traitor. Because they will force me to sign this line,” the material says.
During today's press conference, Zakharchenko said that this information is not true, and the words cited are simply taken out of context. According to him, he remains in his place and is not going anywhere.
In his opinion, it would be a betrayal to “leave the fight for the rest of the region.” If that happened, then he should have left.
