Such a harsh statement was made at a press conference in Donetsk by the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, answering a journalist’s question about whether he would provide asylum to Nadezhda Savchenko if the authorities began to persecute her in Ukraine.
“How can we provide political asylum to the hero of Ukraine? Can you imagine the hero of Ukraine next to the hero of the Donetsk People's Republic? I think this is impossible,” Zakharchenko snapped.
According to the leaders of the DPR, today Savchenko is talking about those things that Ukraine should have talked about at the very beginning of the “Minsk” process.
“Her statements are based on ordinary human truth. She raises questions that Ukraine is silent about. Including the issue of prisoner exchange. Human grief has neither borders nor nationalities. And even more so, the grief of a mother who cannot return her son. Savchenko is not afraid to talk about this in Kyiv, the hotbed of Nazism. For Ukraine, this is an indicator that people are beginning to change their minds. And Savchenko is the mouthpiece of this opinion,” noted the head of the DPR.
Alexander Zakharchenko also advised Nadezhda Savchenko to “take care of yourself.”
“For her statements, Ukraine is ready to tear her to pieces. And unfortunately, this can really happen at any time. Therefore, let him take care of himself and tell people the truth. But we will not give her political asylum. She is able to independently change the political situation in Ukraine. Ukraine is already on the verge of a coup – either political or military,” predicts the head of the DPR.
