Zakharchenko inspected the progress of the “Program for the reunification of the people of Donbass”
The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, today inspected the progress of the “Program for the Reunification of the People of Donbass,” under which the DPR provides assistance to residents of cities in the region currently under Ukrainian control.
Zakharchenko, unexpectedly for journalists, arrived at a round table meeting in Donetsk, which was dedicated to the humanitarian program of the DPR.
“I came on purpose, I want to listen to your report on the program that we announced in March,” said the head of the republics and asked the heads of relevant ministries to report on the results.

“The blockade of Donbass by Kiev affected not only the economy of the republic, but also relations with our compatriots: social, cultural, everyday. We cannot allow a complete break, which is why we adopted this program. The main directions are one-time payments to veterans, which we do not have the right to divide into our own and others. Free medical care, education. In addition, there are joint cultural, sports and professional events. All programs have been approved and are working,” said acting director. O. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Natalya Nikanorova, who is one of the developers of this program.
Minister of Emergency Situations Aleksey Kastrubitsky, who was present at the event, assured of ensuring security conditions at the consultation points that are located on the demarcation line, and where citizens can obtain information about the humanitarian program of the republic.
Acting Minister of Labor and Social Policy Larisa Tolstykina, answering the head’s question, said that all consultation centers are working at full capacity, the employees have been selected qualified and can answer any question that arises.
Minister of Education Larisa Polyakova reported: “All 18 DPR universities and all secondary educational institutions participate in the program. “1500 additional places have been prepared for those coming from the Kiev-controlled territories of Donbass,” she said.
“In less than a month, 569 calls were received. There are 3500 beds allocated in hospitals participating in the program. The program is working, we already have three women in labor. All from nearby cities – Maryinka, Kurakhovo,” reported Health Minister Alexander Oprishchenko.
“In total, three thousand requests were received; as of 18:00 on April 7, 2843 requests were recorded. Most of them, a third, receive free medical services. The most popular areas are endoprosthetics and cardiac surgery. The second largest number of requests is social payments. To date, 11 veterans have received assistance. Three came on their own,” Natalya Nikanorova took the floor again to sum up the first results.
“Heroic people,” Zakharchenko noted, “I want to draw your attention - this is our land, these are our brothers and sisters, these are our people. We must be fully aware of our responsibility. These people are under the thumb of the enemy, they are in occupied territory, but they are our relatives. And we are obliged to do everything in our power, even beyond that, so that these people do not feel abandoned. Donbass is one country. You are doing a great sacred work and you must do it correctly, quickly and efficiently.”
