“The products of the Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant are specific and are used mainly in the gas production and gas transportation industry, the main customer of which was Gazprom of the Russian Federation. Today there is a war, and these products under our brand, unfortunately, cannot be supplied there.
On the other hand, the SCM group of companies has about 100 thousand people. Everyone has families. Multiply by at least three – that’s 300 thousand people who depend on these enterprises. And if we start the process of nationalization... Stopping wage payments, people going out onto the streets, hunger? No, we cannot allow this.
We need to take a balanced approach to the issue of nationalization of enterprises. We need to look at the grounds on which this or that plant was privatized, and under what law it was bought or sold. In the future, when we are officially recognized, we will return the Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant to national ownership. But we cannot approach this issue indiscriminately.
If it had been my personal desire, we would have taken it all away on the first day. But, since you need to think first of all about people, this has not yet been done. Everything has its time.
What our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers built should belong to our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,” Zakharchenko concluded.
