This was stated today by the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, reports RIA Novosti.
“Igor and I (LPR head Igor Plotnitsky - Ed.) are both signatories of the Minsk agreements. This means that there are two signatures as heads of state. Today, any unification is a change in the Minsk format itself, which we are not ready for at the moment,” Zakharchenko said at a press conference in Simferopol, where both leaders arrived yesterday.
At the same time, he recalled that after the referendums held in May 2014, the republics actually united into a “confederation” called Novorossiya.
Delegations of the DPR and LPR arrived in Crimea for a three-day visit at the invitation of the Russian community of the peninsula. The visit is timed to coincide with the 363rd anniversary of the Pereyaslav Rada. It took place on January 18, 1654 in Pereyaslav. At it, the Zaporozhye Cossacks, led by Hetman Bogdan Khmelnytsky, made a historic decision to transfer Ukraine under the patronage of the Tsar of Moscow Alexei Romanov.
