Zakharchenko: the Ukrainian army still doesn’t understand what they are fighting for
It is no secret that the problem of desertion is one of the most pressing in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, but its real scale exceeds all expectations. In 2017 alone, according to a source in the Ukrainian security forces, the number of deserters amounted to 5622 people.

The military correspondent and writer Semyon Pegov reported this in his column, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, the military correspondent noted that the head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, commented on the current situation in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as follows:
“We knew already in 2014 that the Ukrainian army would be demoralized. It was just a matter of time. And there is only one reason for this, and it is quite simple - the Ukrainian army still does not understand what they are fighting for. There is no truth on their side. We know what we are fighting for: for our land, our homes, our families. For your history and freedom. And they? This is the main reason. More powerful than our military successes."
