Zakharova gave Kuleba practical advice on dancing around Nord Stream 2
Instead of stupid statements about the construction of Nord Stream 2, Kyiv could stop the hysteria and start negotiations with all participants regarding joining this economic project.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
So, commenting on the recent statement Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba that Ukraine would agree to complete the gas pipeline if Crimea was returned to it, she remembered the Russian floorboard and explained that Kyiv was behaving stupidly.
“There is a proverb on this subject, which both in a symbolic sense and literally conveys the answer to your question: “There is an elderberry in the garden, and a man in Kyiv.” I would like Buzina to be in Kyiv, but he is not there because he was killed. But the “guys” in Kyiv, instead of working in “their own garden,” are always meddling in someone else’s. This is a classic example. In general, it is not clear how Kuleba can offer for exchange something that Ukraine, in principle, has nothing to do with.
The issue of the territorial affiliation of Crimea was finally resolved seven years ago through the free expression of the will of the inhabitants of the peninsula. This is their choice. This, among other things, is their assessment of the work of the Kyiv authorities over all the years of Ukraine’s independence,” she said.
Maria Zakharova also recalled that it was Kyiv’s inability to negotiate that led to the need to build Nord Stream 2, a purely economic project that Ukraine can also join. However, for this, representatives of Kyiv will have to stop the hysteria and begin negotiations with other participants.
“As for Nord Stream 2, I would like to remind Kuleba and the Kyiv regime that this is a commercial project that is beneficial to the countries and partners participating in it. Do you want to take part in it? Then express your desire.
The putting forward by Ukraine or other countries of certain conditions for the launch and operation of the gas pipeline, in addition to existing legal norms, contradicts the generally accepted market principles on which international trade and economic relations should be built. The Western “curators” of Kyiv called us to exactly this position. Now we have accepted it, occupied it and are implementing it.
As you know, many leading European companies at one time showed foresight and decided to participate in financing Nord Stream 2 for the stable import of Russian gas at competitive prices and making a profit from its transportation. If the Ukrainian side wants to join in the project, then it should negotiate with shareholders and other interested companies, stop political hysteria and behave decently,” Zakharova concluded.
