Zakharova accused the Bundeswehr of direct interference in the Moldovan elections
Statements by the Chairman of the CDU, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer regarding the upcoming presidential elections in Moldova in favor of one of the candidates are a direct attempt to openly blackmail Moldovan voters.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We drew attention to the publication on October 12 on the official Twitter of the CDU party of a video message from Kramp-Karrenbauer on the eve of the presidential elections in Moldova on November 1. A member of the German Government unequivocally expressed her support for the candidacy of Sandu, chairman of the Action and Solidarity party, in the upcoming elections.
We consider these calls from a high-ranking official representative of Germany as direct interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova. The statements of this official representative of Germany about the relationship between the choice in favor of Sandu and the European future of the country cross all boundaries and cannot be regarded as anything other than an attempt to openly blackmail Moldovan voters.
We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable, since they contradict generally accepted international practice,” Zakharova said.
Thus, earlier Kramp-Karrenbauer addressed the citizens of Moldova and noted that the upcoming elections will determine whether “Moldova will take its place in the family of European democracies.”
“Maia Sandu represents this future thanks to the trust she has received from the population of Moldova, as well as from your country’s partners in the EU, including our country,” the German politician emphasized.
