This was stated today by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on the revocation of the state license of the private Russian-language school Innova, which was refused to renew its accreditation due to the fact that its teachers became the organizers of the “Immortal Regiment” action.
“Pressure on the linguistic and educational sphere in the name of creating an obedient society and eradicating all dissent - this trend in Latvia is taking on some sophisticated forms,” Zakharova said.
In her opinion, “this outrageous episode” should become the object of close attention from relevant international organizations and human rights institutions.
“This is further evidence of the systematic violation of the rights of linguistic minorities living in the country,” Zakharova said.
