Zakharova refused to evaluate the statement of the head of the DPR Pushilin
Given the sensitivity of the issue, Moscow does not comment on the aspirations and initiatives of the Donbass republics that run counter to the provisions of the Minsk agreements.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A question regarding the recent statement by the head of the DPR Pushilin, who stated that ideally the republic plans to join Russia as a federal district, how does Russia evaluate such a statement and is it possible?” – asked the journalist.
“Russia, it seems to me, should not evaluate all the statements that are made, and they are made every day, given the severity of the issue. We proceed from the primacy of the Minsk agreements, and everything is fixed there,” Zakharova commented.
Earlier, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, at a meeting with the Moscow intelligentsia, said that the main goal of the republic is to become part of Russia.
“We are faced with one task - maximum integration into the Russian space. Ideally, it will become part of Russia as a federal district. What cannot be taken away from the people of Donbass is patience. But to be as frank as possible, before the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the issuance of Russian passports under a simplified system, people’s moods were not so optimistic,” the official website of the head of the DPR quotes Pushilin.
