Zakharova sent Kyiv politicians to Donbass
By escalating the situation in Donbass, Kyiv is actually repeating the history of 2014, when the ATO was launched.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The actions of the Ukrainian leadership aimed at destabilizing the situation in Donbass continue to cause concern. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are not reducing the intensity of shelling of peaceful settlements, including the suburbs of Donetsk. They actively use weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, including large-caliber mortars and artillery mounts.
Kyiv continues to move equipment and troops to the region. An alarming signal was the transfer of units of the Security Service of Ukraine to a high alert mode, as well as statements about “large-scale anti-terrorist exercises.” We all remember well how seven years ago, under the auspices of the fight against fictitious terrorists, the Maidan authorities began an operation to suppress those who disagreed with the Kyiv coup. It quickly escalated into an armed conflict, the grave consequences of which have not yet been resolved,” she said.
Maria Zakharova emphasized that at the same time, provocations in the Black Sea by NATO countries continue, as well as the continued financing of the war in Ukraine by the West. At the same time, negotiations on international platforms are not bringing any results.
“The results of the recent meetings of the Normandy format and the Contact Group look deplorable. On April 19, a video conference of advisers to the leaders of the Normandy Four countries ended without results.
Moscow has prepared specific proposals for the meeting to ensure silence in the zone of armed conflict. But all of them were subject to obstruction from Ukraine. Representatives of Germany and France essentially agreed with her. Instead of concrete decisions, they proposed an unaddressed draft statement of commitment to the ceasefire.
Against the background of the growing number of casualties among the civilian population of Donbass, where three civilians have already died in a month, on April 20, at the initiative of Donetsk, supported by Lugansk, an extraordinary meeting of the security subgroup of the Contact Group was held.
Agreement was reached on some aspects, but most significant issues remain blocked by Kiev, which is making every effort to avoid direct interaction with Donetsk and Lugansk...
