Recognizing the birthday of one of the leaders of the OUN, Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera, as a state holiday is clear evidence of the Kyiv government’s attempt to instill a false history in the people of Ukraine.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This is a frightening tendency to glorify the Nazis in Ukraine, to rewrite history to suit opportunistic considerations. At the same time, it seems that the Kiev regime wants not only to falsify historical facts, but to replace the memory of the Ukrainian people and its heroic past with pseudo-heroes who, in reality, carried out brutal reprisals against innocent people.

Another confirmation of this is the desire of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to remove from history textbooks any mention of Shukhevych’s collaboration with the Nazis during the Second World War.

Instead of really showing concern for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, on January 1, torchlight marches of nationalist parties were organized in Kyiv and a number of other regions of the country.

Ukraine officially began this year with a public holiday in honor of the birthday of a criminal involved in bloody actions.

A few years ago, when we outlined the emerging trend under the Kyiv regime, we were told that we were dramatizing the situation. No, we didn’t dramatize it, we presented real assessments of what would happen, and it happened,” said the representative of the diplomatic service.

At the same time, she focused on the fact that Western states continue to ignore the aggressive policy of the Kyiv leadership.

“At a time when we are sounding the alarm about the worsening situation and growing neo-Nazi sentiments in Ukraine, which are gaining support at the official level, what do we hear from Western countries that fight for democratic values in this regard? Never mind. There is no reaction, condemnation or official statements from the EU, international organizations and human rights structures in this regard,” Zakharova concluded.
