Zakharova sealed the West with her argument about a referendum"
The recognition of Kosovo by NATO countries is dictated by the fact that they fought for independence there with arms in hand, in contrast to the peaceful Crimean referendum, which is not an argument for the West, because there was no bloodshed.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What did they say after the Crimean referendum in 2014? When I first heard this during the negotiations, I froze. They said, don’t compare the Crimean referendum with the absence of a referendum in Kosovo. Attention! The argument of the NATO countries, the EU and the USA: because Kosovo fought for many years to gain independence. But Crimea did not fight.
But if this has been your argument for many years regarding the non-recognition of the referendum in Crimea, but now what? Or did you not see how Donbass was bleeding? After all, the argument was that struggle is also different, there is right, and there is wrong. From NATO’s point of view, Crimea was fought with the wrong methods, and the people were wrong. Another thing is that Kosovo fought with arms in hand, they said so, they defended independence with arms in hands,” Zakharova said.
She also brought up another blatant “argument” from NATO, justifying the violation of the territorial integrity of Serbia.
“It boiled down to the fact that recognition of Kosovo by NATO countries was necessary in order to “stop the bloodshed and give people a chance for a peaceful life.” Everything fits [as Lavrov spoke about in the State Duma]. Because all their lives they have been engaged in forgeries and staging, this is their credo,” the Foreign Ministry representative emphasized.
