Zakharova criticized Dutch investigators into the downed Boeing

Russia provided objective radar data to the joint investigation team (JIT) investigating the crash of a Boeing 777 passenger plane in the skies over Donbass in 2014, but investigators are trying to disavow it.

This was stated today by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on the JIT’s statement that the absence of a missile fired from the territory of the DPR does not mean that it was not there.

“One gets the impression that the representatives of the JIT seem to be looking for every argument even remotely suitable for the version they want, trying in every possible way to find any justification for their primary assumption. The experts they brought in initially do not consider when analyzing the version of the missile approaching from a different course, although this is directly indicated by Russian radar data,” Zakharova said.

She recalled that specialists from the Almaz-Antey concern explained that the Russian radar could not have failed to notice the missile if it had been fired from the location that the JIT insisted on. Zakharova questioned the competence of the JIT experts, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In Russia, entire departments, specialized structures and relevant organizations dealt with the issue of analyzing primary radar data for transfer to the investigation, but in the JIT, two unnamed experts were assigned to analyze this data. Who these people are, what they are, what they know, what they can do, whether there have been similar cases in their practice - nothing is clear. In any case, this does not seem like a professional, highly qualified approach,” Zakharova said.
