Zakharova: The EU knows that Ukraine’s admission to NATO will destabilize Europe
Among the NATO member countries there are still sober-minded states that understand perfectly well what added value Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance will bring them.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The recent statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kuleba, who complained that the “Russian factor” allegedly continues to play an important role in the issue of his country’s accession to NATO, since some members of the alliance continue to look at Ukraine through the prism of Russia, is some kind of anti-logic . They must understand that the position is determined not so much by the Russian, but by the pan-European factor.
Admitting Ukraine to NATO will not strengthen the security of the European continent. Probably, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine does not know, but there are specialists in Europe who have a good understanding of geopolitics and understand what added value Ukraine’s membership in these structures will bring them.
They have calculated all these risks and realize that such steps will simply deepen the dividing lines even further and violate the forgotten principle of the indivisibility of security,” Zakharova said.
Let us recall that earlier Dmitry Kuleba demanded that NATO countries undecided on the Ukrainian issue “stop looking at Ukraine through the prism of Russia.”
“This position has been declared at all levels, but, unfortunately, in practice we see that the Russian factor plays a role,” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy reasoned on the Ukraine 24 TV channel.
