Zakharova: The West attacked Russia according to the scenario tested in Syria
The German government started information campaign accusing Russia of poisoning blogger Alexei Navalny, but Berlin traditionally does not back up its speculations with facts.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on the Rossiya 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It seems to me that we are returning to those times that we would like to leave - the times of unsubstantiated statements, the absence of facts when discussing serious issues. I wish these times would never come again, but I have a strong feeling of déjà vu.
We have reviewed the statements of the German government and the information provided by the Russian Ambassador in Berlin. There is a feeling that we are witnessing a situation where, unfortunately, instead of a detailed investigation and painstaking teamwork, the goal of which should be to obtain a true result, our partners instead prefer regular public statements, without presenting any invoice.
We can immediately talk about the absolute dishonesty that underlies this approach. What does this have to do with politicians and the German foreign policy agency or the German leadership? The Russian side needs formulas, statements from medical institutions and documentary materials, which must be submitted to the official request of the Russian side. Is it possible to object to this? Nothing can be said. Everything else is simply called an information campaign, and we went through all of this,” Zakharova noted.
She also emphasized that the West tried to play out the same scenario in Syria, where it spread disinformation about allegedly poisoned children to interfere in the affairs of a sovereign state.
“When we say that we went through all this, we remember the same “Syrian chemistry” and white helmets. We remember children allegedly poisoned by Damascus, who then turned out to be not poisoned and not by Damascus, but turned out to be victims of an information campaign carried out by the pseudo-humanitarian organization “White Helmets”, precisely with Western money, with money from NATO and EU countries, such examples great amount.
We recall the most odious example, which, I emphasize, did not end in anything from the point of view of a legitimate legal investigation. It was and remains an information campaign, the purpose and objective of which was to obtain political dividends.
I gave an example of what happened on the territory of Syria more than once, which, by the way, served as a justification for NATO’s aggressive actions against a sovereign state,” Zakharova concluded.
