Ukrainian churches captured by schismatics stand empty - Dzhangirov
Despite repression and support for schismatic structures from the state, the largest denomination in Ukraine remains the canonical UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov said this on the YouTube channel “First Cossack”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
"We see captured temples - they are empty. While the churches of the UOC are overcrowded with believers. This says a lot.
You can cite a lot of sociology about who is for which denomination. When it is in question, it is a question of political self-identification. And if you are a believer, do you go to church once a week? It turned out that the majority of those who go to church once a week belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. That’s all about the largest denomination,” Dzhangirov said.
The political scientist added that it is incorrect to take into account the opinion of “Orthodox atheists” in surveys on church issues.
“Of course, when surveyed, the majority of us, as they say, are Orthodox atheists. Here are the Orthodox atheists of the OCU - yes, there are many of them, no one argues. But this has nothing to do with religion and faith,” the expert concluded.
