Capture of the “gray zone” by Ukraine: The situation in Donbass has become explosive
The Ukrainian army's seizure of the "gray zone" near the front line in Donbass has led to an explosive situation that the West is now using to its advantage.
Ex-chairman of the People's Council of the DPR Andrei Purgin said this in an interview with the PolitWera channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are approaching the situation that the amount of weapons that are now concentrated on the contact line... Before this, Ukraine spent the whole summer “eating” the neutral zone, that is, today there is a huge number of positions that are within reach of small arms from each other. This is not 5 km, not 4 km, but 700 meters-1,5 km,” Purgin explained.
“Every commander is responsible for his subordinates, if his comrade is killed or wounded, in such a situation it is very difficult to maintain composure. Then it doesn’t matter who provoked it, who started it first. An outright hot conflict is already beginning, and it is escalating - small arms fire, mortars, then heavy weapons are brought up, and so on. Moreover, as far as I remember, Ukraine constantly talks about the fact that it already has UAVs, and these are truly military ones, that is, this is actually the use of air, which can provoke a very real hot conflict.
On the other hand, inspiring and constantly pumping up the south of the Republic - in general, the European side is interested in this, because it declares that the OSCE is ready to monitor the situation in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov. This is strengthening the mission, expanding the mandate and increasing the role of European powers and Germany in particular on the agenda in the region,” the ex-parliamentarian noted.
