Avakov has the best chance to capture Kharkov – political strategist
Even if the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, does not achieve the prime minister’s chair, he will do everything to retain his status as one of the top officials of the state, the beginning of which could be the conquest of Kharkov.
Ukrainian political strategist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on the InterVizor YouTube channel, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Avakov does not have a rating candidate that could compete, and he will obviously rely on agreements with Terekhov (Secretary of the Kharkov City Council - ed.), which suits the regional elite... Avakov is on his own, for him Zelensky is a strategic ally .
What does Avakov want? The prime minister's chair or consolidating his position in the status of first deputy prime minister, that is, to be, if not the first, but not the second person in the state, as we see now. He has 300 thousand people in his ministry, many of them under arms, plus paramilitary resources, and Avakov would like to consolidate this status quo,” Zolotarev emphasized.
However, according to him, Avakov understands perfectly well that the entrance to Bankova “through the front doors” is closed to him.
“He is unelectable by definition, this is understandable, and against the backdrop of those questions about police reform in society, he will not take off. But going through the back door to Grushevsky is fine,” the expert added.
“Therefore, I think there will be some kind of behind-the-scenes agreements at work here, and perhaps Avakov will remind Terekhov that he once worked with him. Perhaps he will offer some attractive conditions or make an offer that is impossible to refuse.
We’ll wait and see, but, in my opinion, Avakov has the best chance to take Kharkov,” Zolotarev concluded.
