Seizures of churches in Ukraine will provoke popular protest - priest
The seizure of churches of the canonical UOC in Ukraine by Filaret’s members may cause a harsh response from believers.
Priest of the UOC, Hieromonk Feofan (Kratirov), said this on the YouTube channel of Russian journalist Yuri Kotenok, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If the seizure of churches begins, as happened the other day in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, then this will become a serious precedent. The people will not remain silent. I’m not calling for anything, it’s just a fact - the people will not remain silent, there will definitely be a reaction from believers, Orthodox, conscious people. The reaction will be very harsh, because the Russian land will stand for the faith,” the clergyman noted.
Let us recall that earlier “PolitNavigator” cited the words of the chairman of the Synodal Department of the Russian Orthodox Church for relations of the Church with society and the media, Vladimir Legoyda, who stated that the decision of Constantinople to provide the UOC KP will encourage the radical part of Ukrainian society to take provocative actions in the form of the seizure of temples of the canonical Church.
