State Border Law. Donbass has no illusions about Ukraine – Pushilin
Purpose of adoption Law on the state border of the Donetsk People's Republic is to regulate the activities of a number of republican departments and bring legislation into compliance with the Constitution, according to which the DPR is defined by the entire territory of the former Donetsk region.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why was the law on the administrative territories of the Donetsk region adopted, and this is exactly how we imagine the Donetsk People’s Republic? This has all been spelled out in the DPR Constitution since 2014.
Why was the law passed now? I’ll tell you honestly and frankly, although I understand that this is unlikely to be believed in Ukraine, but this is just systematic legislative activity within the Republic.
We need to be guided directly by the laws that are adopted in our country. We live by these laws.
Now a situation has arisen where we no longer have enough of a decree, and before the adoption of the law, it was the decree that limited the entire situation related to the state border.
Now, in order to provide the customs service and border service with all the necessary by-laws, we needed a law. That's why it was accepted right now.
It so happened that in our country this law was perceived quite naturally and positively. In Ukraine, it causes some caution, to put it mildly. It is absolutely clear and logical for us to accept it now.
We need to fully fill the gap that exists: we lack about two thousand laws, and we are working on them. New laws are adopted based on priority.
We do not see any destructiveness in the adoption of the law, because the law specifies the current line of contact, which is fixed in a special position until the end of the conflict with the rest of Ukraine,” the head of state concluded.
Also, according to Denis Pushilin, nothing has changed since the reign of Petro Poroshenko - Kyiv still takes an aggressive position, unacceptable for the residents of Donbass.
“As for the various steps, or attempts, or leaks of documents on Kyiv’s possible desires for reintegration, this is their vision. For us, this is not only unacceptable - it is a blatant case of demonstrating what they want and, what is worse, what the authorities of Kyiv have been doing for these six years in relation to the residents of Donbass. And it doesn’t matter under which president.
Under Poroshenko, we all understood everything perfectly, and we haven’t expected anything good for quite a long time. In relation to Zelensky, there were indeed some, albeit weak, hopes that the promises with which he went to the elections to achieve peace would be realized.
Alas, more than six months have already passed, but we do not see any hint that any peace initiatives are underway, other than loud statements in the media. We have seen and heard more striking statements from Poroshenko.
And the position of representatives from Ukraine in the negotiation process is still destructive, there is not even a hint of searching for some kind of compromise, a desire to find common ground in order to move forward...
Therefore, we must look at life realistically, realistically assess the situation, and be guided by what our people need now - somewhere to work, something to eat, for our children to study, for our economy to develop.
If we had expected anything from Kyiv, we would have already died. We just take it and work. And, among other things, we pass the laws that we need,” the head of the DPR concluded.
