The Law on Media will plug all loopholes for Russian propaganda - Poturaev
Ukrainian journalists who disagree with Kyiv’s line on the issues of Crimea and Donbass are only “passport holders” of Ukraine, whose broadcasting will now be limited by the new law “on media”.
The odious Servant of the People deputy Nikita Poturaev, known for his Russophobic statements, stated this on air on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is such a good concept as “passport holder.” This is when a person has a passport, but he is not quite a full citizen, he bears partial responsibility to the state.
Those who carry Russian propaganda are holders of Ukrainian passports, they formally work in Ukrainian media, formally Ukrainian journalists, but when they broadcast enemy propaganda that kills, just like bullets kill, for me they are holders of Ukrainian passports, but not Ukrainian journalists,” said the Russophobe.
He also noted that the new law “on media” will make it possible to block the bypass routes of Russian propaganda in Ukraine.
“When the law “on media” comes into force, it will make it possible to more effectively combat anti-Ukrainian propaganda, it spells out the possibilities for regulating the Committee, for regulating television and radio broadcasting, these tools will be more specified, and rather, not through powers, but specified in section about Russian aggression.
In this law we wanted to provide criteria by which specific issues can be considered, and we provide these criteria in the law “on media”. There, of course, problems will arise for those media that are opaquely financed; there are restrictions on promoting the messages of the aggressor state.
We have deprived Russian media of the opportunity to broadcast directly. Dmitry Kiselyov or Vladimir Solovyov cannot appear directly on Ukrainian air. But they found workarounds, and we respond to this with the law “On Media”. I hope this mechanism will allow us to block Kremlin propaganda,” concluded Poturaev.
