The bill currently being discussed in Kyiv on criminal liability of officials for traveling to the Russian Federation is scandalous, but unrealizable.

This opinion was expressed by a Ukrainian political scientist in a commentary to PolitNavigator
Vladimir Volya.
“The bill looks loud, noisy, scandalous and beautiful, but in reality the question arises: why should Ukrainian officials go to Russia at all if certain events have not been agreed upon at the state level? So the law isn't really about anything. Official visits and contacts are already limited. As for the idea of giving a prison sentence for visits with the purpose of causing damage, it is not clear what is considered causing damage. A legal definition of this still needs to be given, and it is unknown whether such a norm will be defined. Thus, the law is scandalous, but I think it is not yet implementable,” the political scientist concluded.
