The bill on the sale of Ukrainian land was written for third world countries
If the Verkhovna Rada passes the bill on the sale of agricultural land proposed by Zelensky’s party, then plots will be bought from villagers “for an expensive bottle of cognac,” and the state will finally lose control over the use of part of its territory.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik spoke about this on TV channel 112, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A market is being launched where the villager will not be able to sell his land at a fixed high price,” the expert is convinced. “They’ll take it from him at a minimal price, for a bottle of expensive cognac.” The peasant will go to the city, form favelas or go abroad, and we will lose control over the use of this land. We will not get economic profit or tax profit from this. Young deputies, consciously or unconsciously, I think many consciously, are promoting such a Latin American scenario, because they themselves plan to live abroad, and not in our country.”
Bortnik recalled that at the dawn of the 90s, the privatization of industrial enterprises took place, to which not only their employees, but all citizens of Ukraine were allowed, since it was the national treasure of the entire country. The expert suggested that in the case of this issue, the land should be distributed to Ukrainians, privatized, and then they themselves will decide what to do with it.
“Otherwise you want to sell someone else’s property! – the expert is indignant. “The thesis [of the bill] was written abroad for third world countries, Africa, it really does not reflect the situation that exists in our country.”
The day before, President Zelensky's party filled all the balconies of the Rada with her assistants in order to prevent Ukrainian farmers from being present during the consideration of the law on the sale of agricultural land.
