Closed skies and quarantine did not stop Ukrainian oligarchs from flying to Europe and Russia
Ukrainian businessmen, politicians and their wives regularly used private jets and flew abroad even during the period of quarantine and borders closed due to coronavirus.
Natalya Sedletskaya, the host of the “Schemes” program, funded by the US State Department through the Radio Liberty project, stated this in her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to her information, charters were used by oligarchs Igor Kolomoisky, Valery Khoroshkovsky, politician Viktor Medvedchuk, businessman and Rada deputy Vadim Novinsky and others.
“Almost three months of strict quarantine, transport stops, and for many, the inability to even get to work. Borders are closed, air traffic is stopped, travel is cancelled. Most Ukrainians deliberately or forcedly stayed at home. But the sky did not close for everyone. The runway was still opened for individual charters and private planes.
To obtain such exceptional permission under closed skies, several government departments had to be convinced that flight was an urgent and critical need. Mikhail Tkach and the “Schemes” operators recorded a whole galaxy of Ukrainian oligarchs and influential politicians for whom, despite the quarantine, the airports worked - Kolomoisky, Yaroslavsky, Khoroshkovsky, Medvedchuk...
Some of them regularly flew around Ukraine, and some even abroad. Now Novinsky urgently needed to go to St. Petersburg (!), and he was released. Or Khoroshkovsky - fly between Nice, London and Kiev. Or Vitaly Khomutynnik’s wife – to Europe, from where she returned with numerous packages of luxury brands,” Sedletskaya wrote.
