“The tragic events in Ukraine became a real disaster for “2000” as well. We have lost access to a large number of readers of our target audience living in Crimea and Donbass. As a result of the resulting reduction in circulation, the inevitable (even after optimization) editorial costs began to constantly exceed the income from the distribution of the weekly. As a result of this, as well as the sharp depreciation of the hryvnia and high inflation rates, our project became unprofitable for the first time in many years,” – says the editorial statement.
“We can only hope for a miracle that will give us new meetings with you, our dear readers. And if after the New Year the postman brings you our newspaper or you buy it at a newsstand, then miracles do happen,” the publishers say.
Let us note that problems for “2000” could also arise as a result of the failure of the Communist Party of Ukraine in the parliamentary elections. Previously, the Communist Party of Ukraine provided the newspaper with subscribers through a network of its party cells.
