Deputy director of TASS supported Azerbaijan in the war for Nagorno-Karabakh
The fate of Nagorno-Karabakh must be decided on the battlefield, and the truth in this war is on the side of Azerbaijan.
This statement was made in an interview with CBC TV Azerbaijan by First Deputy General Director of TASS Mikhail Gusman, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today everything must be decided, unfortunately, on the battlefield. Very young guys must die in this war, but they are heroes who fight for their land. This is truly a patriotic war - this is the most accurate word. Everyone must understand that when an army fights for its native land, it is a patriotic war,” Guzman said.
He gave this interview at the very beginning of the aggravation in the South Caucasus on September 29, but it became known in Russia only last week.
A native of Baku, Guzman admitted that he came to Azerbaijan on his own initiative after the start of the conflict in order to “put blocks to dirty insinuations.” He himself called television and gave an interview a hundred meters from the guns firing towards Nagorno-Karabakh.
Associate Professor of the RANEPA department Sergei Karnaukhov responded to this interview and other statements by Gusman in Baku in his Telegram channel.
“Occupying such a position, he simply does not have the right to express such a biased and reactionary position,” Karnaukhov wrote.
As a result, TASS released a statement in which, without naming names, it distanced itself from the statements of “collaborators” on Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Statements made recently in the public field by a number of agency employees on the topic of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh are their private opinion and do not reflect the position of TASS,” the agency’s Corporate Communications Department said.
