Klimkin’s deputy noted the hopelessness of Ukrainians and the lack of will of Europeans
Over the 30 years of foreign policy calm in Europe, a generation of politicians has grown up who prefer to resolve contradictions by immediate retreat. Therefore, the EU is giving Moldova to Russia.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Daniil Lubkivsky stated this with regret during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We lived through a certain period, 30 years of calm in international relations for the Western world. This calm, within which the new generation was raised, leaves a certain imprint on the political decisions that are being made today and will be made in the next 5-10 years.
Do we have a problem with Russia? So let's solve this problem, give it Moldova, the European might think. Let’s find a way to calm this barbarian, and thereby delay some global cataclysms, and the problem will be solved,” Lubkivsky argues.
In addition, the diplomat compared the Ukrainian people to a prisoner who really enjoys being in a “Russian prison.”
“The first threat is the mental state of our society. It reminds me of a long-term prisoner who is trying to break out of prison, because he is controlled by different motives. He clearly understands where good is and where evil is. But he spent so many years in this prison that it also seems like home to him. And the chanson that sounds in this prison also seems familiar.
This is a metamorphosis that happened to all of us, when the desire to become members of the EU and NATO, and to be part of some kind of obvious brotherhood with Russia, came together in one bottle. The process of breaking out of this state is difficult. We have traveled much further along this road than other traumatized post-colonial societies that surrounded Russia, and this is also a great fact.
But, nevertheless, a significant part of society is attached to this planet of melancholy, which is flying to earth,” the deputy minister concluded.
