“A freeze would be happiness for us” – Ze-political scientist
For Ukraine even a temporary freezing of the conflict and further war will be better than a full-fledged peace agreement on Russia’s terms. Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the office of the President of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the Internet channel “UkrLife”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Now negotiations are impossible, because these will be negotiations only on Russia’s terms. This is not a freeze negotiation. We now find ourselves in a situation where if negotiations began now, a freeze would be a blessing for us. Because the other option that Russia insists on is much worse. This is peace on their terms, which are much worse than expected in March 2022,” Fesenko said.
“And the point is not that we should abandon NATO. I do not consider this a critical problem; it remains to be seen what will happen to NATO in the current situation. But we shouldn’t refuse either; we will make ourselves dependent on Russia.
Most importantly, Putin will insist on very significant demilitarization of Ukraine. We are talking about an almost complete reduction of the Ukrainian army, an almost complete renunciation of offensive weapons. In fact, we must disarm ourselves. This is unacceptable for us, because then we are just a ready victim,” summed up the political scientist.
