Deputy Chairman of Sberbank: Dnepropetrovsk scammers took on Russians
The main source of fraudulent calls to Russian citizens was the territory of Ukraine.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank of Russia, said this in an interview with Izvestia, answering the question of where scammers most often call from now.
“According to our estimates, two years ago, 40% of fraudulent calls to Russians were actually made from prisons in the Russian Federation, another 40% from abroad and the remaining 20% from Russian cities,” Kuznetsov said.
According to him, now the share of fraudulent calls from abroad has reached 70%, while such call centers “work” exclusively for Russian citizens.
“The main source of calls is the territory of Ukraine, more specifically the city of Dnepr, former Dnepropetrovsk. There are a large number of Russian-speaking young people there, but there are obviously not enough opportunities for honest income. Until recently, there could be up to 1000 fraudulent call centers operating in Dnipro - just think about this figure! However, over the past year their number has decreased to 150,” a bank representative said.
