Lutsenko's deputies offered the ex-minister to slander Yanukovych in exchange for closing criminal cases
Former Minister of Energy of Ukraine Eduard Stavitsky, at the court hearing in the Yanukovych case, will talk about the purposes of the visit of two deputy Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko to him in Israel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this in an interview with the Israeli TV channel iLand.
In particular, the former Minister of Energy and Coal Industry noted that he, unlike many Ukrainian high-ranking officials, does not want to engage in idle talk under oath. According to him, he wants to declare under oath all the events that occurred from December 2013 to February 27, 2014, as well as the facts that took place in 2016, when he was already living in Israel. According to Stavitsky, his testimony will be of interest to the public not only in Ukraine and Israel, but also to the international community.
“I cannot make an assessment as a court, but as a person I can. By the way, I am a certified lawyer, unlike, as you say, the main lawyers of Ukraine... And I, as a certified lawyer, give a clear assessment of every word I say. And I repeat once again, and I address directly to Vladislav Vladimirovich Devyatko - this is the presiding judge in the Obolonsky court - I have essential facts. Significant ones that may influence the decision. I ask you not to deny me my right, through a video conference, in accordance with all norms of international law, under oath, to highlight all these facts, so that you give a full assessment of all the events that occurred during the period that is being considered in your court. I say again that I am a citizen of Israel, and on the grounds given to me by law, I reserve my rights and claims – I emphasize this word with the phrase – claims – to everyone who forbids me to exercise all my rights…” said Eduard Stavitsky.
Also during the interview in the studio of the Iland TV channel, Yanukovych’s lawyer Alexander Goroshinsky was with him. According to the ex-minister, he gave him written explanations regarding the facts known to him in the period 2013-2014. (Maidan events), as well as information that representatives of the GPU offered him, in exchange for testimony against Yanukovych, to stop his criminal prosecution.
“The prosecution goes a different route. It is trying, through the extraction of untruthful testimony, through so-called deals, to force people in one format or another to give untruthful testimony against Viktor Yanukovych, and thus make false testimony. As I learned from Eduard Anatolyevich, indeed, he received an offer from the Deputy Prosecutors General, who arrived in Israel, to give false evidence against Yanukovych... In return, they promised, as I understand it, to stop criminal proceedings against Eduard Anatolyevich. Naturally, Eduard Anatolyevich refused such illegal actions,” Alexander Goroshinsky said in an interview.
