In a statement, Freedom House Vice President Robert Herman notes that “voting in Crimea cannot legitimize Russian power on the peninsula.”
“The elections held in Russia, as well as in occupied Crimea, do not legitimize Russian power on Ukrainian territory. This “vote” was anything but free and fair. Residents of Crimea could not decide who would win the elections, nor who would allegedly become their representatives,” the statement states.
Let us remind you that the day before the start of voting, official Washington announced that it would not recognize the results of the State Duma elections in Crimea.
As PolitNavigator reported, In unison with its overseas patrons, official Kyiv has also become emboldened, demanding that the new State Duma of the Russian Federation not be recognized as legitimate.
