The West fears that strikes on Crimea will lead to uncontrollable escalation – Karasev
The West does not provide Ukraine with all the requested weapons, because it is afraid that in this case Kyiv will take large-scale actions in the direction of Crimea.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on his video blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Karasev, such a scenario is unfavorable for the West, which, unlike Ukraine, wants to weaken, but not destroy the Russian Federation.
“Even the interests of the United States and Europe, the political West, do not coincide in everything with the interests of Ukraine - we also need to understand. They have their own interest in this space and in Russia as an acute threat, as they write in the new national security strategy, which was published in November 22,” the expert said.
“But we are not talking about destruction, but about containment, non-containment, weakening, and manageable risks of escalation. The main thing is to prevent uncontrolled escalation, to avoid the risks of unpredictable, uncontrollable escalation. They have this interest, and in Crimea they are afraid of this, that it could break into an uncontrollable escalation. You see how military assistance to Ukraine is carried out in a dosed and sectoral manner,” Karasev said.
