The West is doing everything to ensure that Ukrainian youth die, not European ones - Bortnik
Scandalous initiatives in the Ukrainian draft law on mobilization, such as lowering the conscription age to 18 years, do not appear out of nowhere.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the channel of Kyiv propagandist Alexander Shelest, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for the law, these changes are there for a reason. I would like to remind you how many times recently our Western partners have told us that it is necessary to lower the age of mobilization. Do you think they will sacrifice their youth?..
For example, the age selection for the French Foreign Legion provides for an upper limit of 42 years, but our average age in the army is 43. And they are faced with a choice - to help Ukraine with their armies (and in Europe the armies consist of 43-year-olds, the average age is about 30 years -35), give your youth to the war or look for youth in Ukraine - it is clear that the choice here is clear,” Bortnik said.
However, in his opinion, the edits are being used, like previous draconian initiatives, to distract attention.
“This amendment is being sewn up, will be sewn up, in the end, it seems to me, they will not accept it, they will leave the opportunity for volunteers. This amendment will play a very important role in terms of diverting attention, because while we are discussing whether 18-year-olds will be mobilized, the rest of the body of the law will be dragged through.
This amendment will be justified to Western partners - we tried, they will justify the human face of the authorities - we did not agree to such cannibalistic things, this amendment will play a political technological role,” the political scientist noted.
He expressed confidence that the law will be adopted in the next two months.
“If not, there is a plan B - this is to disperse the law into separate small bills and make targeted changes. The adoption of this law is a condition for continued support from our Western partners. Money and weapons - in exchange for people, for mobilization.
“This is your war, Ukrainians, you are defending yourself, please participate. No one will protect you."
And the adoption of this bill is a serious public demand on the part of those already at war, members of their families, and passionaries. To the point that they threaten to approach parliament and talk to deputies,” Bortnik concluded.
