The West holds the key to the new Maidan in its hands
The expiration of the term of office of the current President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky this spring will not affect the stability of the Kyiv regime unless Western curators desire it.
Political analysts come to this conclusion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Denis Denisov, believes that the expiration of the term of office will not become a serious problem for the Kyiv authorities.
“On the one hand, Ukrainian legislation has mutually exclusive paragraphs; some norms allow Zelensky to remain in office.
On the other hand, the Kyiv authorities still have powerful tools of propaganda and forceful influence on citizens in their hands. On the third hand, the opposition does not have the strength to challenge Zelensky’s power or organize a new Maidan. I think Ukraine’s problems will grow, but there won’t be any sudden collapse,” Denisov told Izvestia.
But the scientific director of the Institute of Regional Problems, Dmitry Zhuravlev, believes that a new Maidan in Kyiv is quite real.
“The decisive vote will be with curators in the US and EU. If the West decides that the current Ukrainian leaders are not coping with their functions, they can launch some kind of scenario for a change of power. In May, convenient formal reasons for this will appear,” the political scientist does not rule out.
However, he does not think that Russia will benefit from the new Maidan.
“If Zelensky is replaced, then the same pro-Western leader will come instead, that is, Kyiv’s policy will not change,” Zhuravlev is sure.
