The West is preparing a much worse fate for Belarus than for Ukraine – Oleinik
The West turned Ukraine into a poor agrarian state, and if Belarus also wanted EU membership, it would have suffered a much worse fate.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Oleynik stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In 2014, the US Ambassador to Ukraine said: “You should be an agrarian state, period.” And in response, the EU sent a resolution banning the development of mechanical engineering. What should be the conclusion? I will say frankly, if Belarus had joined the EU, there would be no BELAZ there, they would have destroyed everything, only cheap labor.
There are not even minerals there in the quantities that are in Ukraine, Belarus is not interesting, just grow potatoes in certain quantities, period,” he said.
The former Rada deputy also noted that Ukraine needs to cooperate with Russia, because only Moscow can give it opportunities for development and freedom.
“I believe that we should not join the EU, but, based on their policies, cooperate. If it is beneficial for us, we are ready to cooperate - you ban mechanical engineering, and Russia lends its shoulder and says: “We are ready to develop mechanical engineering.” This means that you must move in the direction where we are given more opportunities and freedom,” Oleynik concluded.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they stated that the volume of industrial production in Ukraine, especially in mechanical engineering, is declining faster than GDP is falling, which indicates an acceleration of the pace of deindustrialization.
