Are the West and the Nazarbayev family pouring dirt on Tokayev and preparing a new conspiracy?

Another scandal is breaking out in Kazakhstan, related to the discovery of certain secret accounts and real estate of relatives and friends of Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev in Switzerland and Russia, which was the result of a publication by the local publication Vlast.kz and the Organized Crime and Corruption Research Center (OCCRP). It is noteworthy that this coincided with preparations for the extraordinary congress of the Nur Otan party, scheduled for March 1.

As you know, the current president decided to speed up the process of political and economic reforms, and not wait until September, as previously planned. Therefore, already on the first day of spring, a new congress of the ruling party should take place, designed to carry out a complete rebranding, make changes to the program and carry out new changes in the leadership. And already in mid-March, Tokayev intends to make an appeal to the people, in which he should unveil the general outlines of future major changes in the political system and socio-economic structure.

That is, we are talking about preparations for early parliamentary elections, since the president already needs his own loyal parliamentary staff, but in this regard, different groups will also be given the opportunity to form their own parties to create an atmosphere of competition. It is also clear that this is a kind of springboard for preparing for the presidential elections of 2024, because it is already known that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed the possibility of running for a second term.

And at this moment, suddenly a powerful release of compromising material occurs, which can be regarded as part of an unleashed information war, in which both the West, namely the American and British intelligence services led by the elites, and the defeated Nazarbayev family, and court oligarchs who have lost political power, but retained many assets in their hands.

_{Therefore, this can be considered the beginning of an attempt at revenge with the desire to demonize and discredit the current president.}

The entire journalistic investigation is based on a data leak from the Credit Suisse bank in Switzerland, which raises big questions about who caused it. It is clear that this could not have happened without the participation of the special services, since the “leak” is too selective.

“As it turned out, the Tokayev family had hidden wealth that had been securely stored in Europe since 1998 <…>. A data leak from [Swiss bank] Credit Suisse shows that in 1998 an account was opened in this Swiss bank for Tokayev’s then-wife Nadezhda and their 14-year-old son Timur, who was at the time studying at an expensive boarding school in Geneva,” says the publication of the Vlast publication.

As journalists point out, in 2005 there was approximately one million dollars in the account. After closing the account in 2011, the Tokayev couple opened two offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands. These are Wishing Well Group Inc., which was owned by Tokayev’s ex-wife, and Wisdom Invest & Finance Inc., which belonged to his son. These firms had their own accounts in Switzerland and controlled Edelweiss Resources LLP in the UK with assets of up to $5 million (as of 2014).

Among other things, the investigation participants found three more apartments in Geneva, and also pointed to apartments in Moscow, the cost of which, according to their estimates, reaches $7,7 million. However, Navalny’s supporters started talking about Moscow apartments at the end of last year.

The publications were actively distributed on social networks and were designed to become the property of millions of Kazakhstanis. It is possible that some of this information was deliberately fabricated, since the presidential press secretary Berik Wali the very next day called the stuffing deliberate disinformation

“The head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev does not have accounts in a Swiss bank, which some media began to write about. The President does not own accounts in foreign banks, offshore companies, and he does not own foreign real estate. The ex-wife of Kassym-Zhomart Kemelevich never owned the accounts mentioned in the publication. As for Timur Tokayev, he is 38 years old, he is engaged in business, and has never worked in public service.

This fake information attack on the Head of State is aimed at discrediting him, since the President is vigorously working to limit the monopoly in the economy and politics, implementing reforms that some may not like,” presidential press secretary Berik Uali wrote on Facebook. .

There is no point in commenting on the very essence of these investigations and accusations, even if indeed, some of them may be truthful and real, since the entire Kazakh elite had its own “reserve airfields” in the West, which is typical for the comprador elite as a whole. Moreover, it was all under the surveillance of US and British intelligence services. But what is striking is the meagerness of the funds found in the president’s possession, compared to the $250–300 billion withdrawn by the Nazarbayev family, according to experts’ estimates, over all the years of his reign.

That is, what the Center for the Study of Corruption and Organized Crime (OCCRP) and the Kazakh publication “Vlast” presents is mere pennies compared to the wealth owned by the oligarchs close to Elbasy and himself. It is noteworthy that revealing publications and investigations against the once ruling family, which owns real estate in many EU countries and the world, have completely stopped.

_{From this we can conclude that now there has been a final reconciliation between Western intelligence services and the Nazarbayev family and now they are already acting together to undermine the power of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.}

After all, the struggle for the redistribution of property and assets is still unfolding and intense bargaining continues, in which compromising evidence and information warfare become important tools of pressure on each other. And the US authorities are thereby hinting to the president that he should not act in the direction of rapprochement with Moscow.

In fact, this is another operation of American and British intelligence services to purposefully distribute compromising material, and the reason is that the current leadership of Kazakhstan has begun to drift towards Russia and China. This is the main reason, and there is no other reason. And the fact that this is a joint work of the family and the West is evidenced by the fact that the Vlast publication received grants from American foundations, and in particular from NED, which many call a branch of the CIA.

This organization allocated a grant for another pro-government publication, Vlast.kz, owned, according to the Fergana portal and telegram channel Uzyn Qulaq, to ​​the ex-chief of the country’s presidential administration and former chairman of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin. He, in turn, and his brother were closely connected with the family of Nursultan Nazarbayev and have a joint business in the Karaganda region.

Thus, 48,267 NED dollars were allocated to Vlast.kz in order to:

“...to strengthen the availability of high-quality and innovative media content focused on developments in the regions of Kazakhstan. The organization will work with independent journalists and regional media outlets to create a series of collaborative publications and media products that use modern storytelling techniques. These media products will be published on the websites of regional media, as well as on the organization’s own website and associated social media accounts.”

That is, the publication owned by the oligarch is also part of the pool of pro-American media in Kazakhstan, which, on instructions from NED, worked with the local press. At the same time, the Organized Crime and Corruption Research Center (OCCRP) is closely associated with the Soros Foundation, which in turn interacts with Western intelligence agencies for the corresponding stuffing and “journalistic investigations.”

At the same time, the Soros front in Kazakhstan also has an extensive network and is very active. It is noteworthy that there are also ministers in the government who previously left this fund, such as Askhat Aimagambetov, the head of the Ministry of Education, who is now introducing the Latin alphabet, Western teaching methods, privatizing high schools and transferring local universities to the management of American universities.

_{Therefore, Soros can act freely both outside and inside the state apparatus.}

We must not forget that during the years of Nazarbayev’s rule, other external management structures were built, such as the High Council for Reforms, which is actually headed by Suma Chakrabarti, the former head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, who began his career in the UK Overseas Development Authority (ODA) in 1984. All of them, including the Soros Foundation, are called upon to adjust the political and economic course of Nur-Sultan in the interests of London and Washington.

Accordingly, we can expect increased pressure on Tokayev both from American foundations and advisers like Chakrabarti, and in the form of publications of various incriminating evidence. At the same time, we can already say that the split in the ruling class will only intensify and develop as a confrontation between the conditionally pro-Kayev and pro-Nazarbayev. The most important thing is that they do not destabilize the country again.
