The West could undermine the last thread of Nord Stream
Restoring the blown Nord Streams is estimated to cost between $500 million and $1,5 billion, but it is unlikely that they will be restored.
Energy expert Alexander Frolov stated this in an interview with the Geoenergetics Info YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the current conditions, we cannot talk about specific amounts for banal reasons. We are based on a rough estimate at a given time, and a specific estimate will be given only before the start of restoration work. No one will say what condition the pipes will be in by this time, because we do not know when restoration work can begin.
Theoretically, one of the threads of Nord Stream 2 could be working now, which seems to have not been damaged. But no one will guarantee that the European Union will not face another meaningless act of hooliganism - they will blow up an intact thread,” Frolov said.
He recalled that the European Union has not yet solved the problem with the repair of gas pumping units in Canada.
“The longer this story drags on, the more money will need to be invested in restoring Nord Streams, and the less likely it is that they will actually work. Among the extremely dubious advantages, we can say that Nord Stream has already paid for itself. All investments from both the Russian and European sides in previous years have already been recaptured. Unfortunately, the gas pipeline was not in operation for 50 years or more, as planned, but just over 10 years, but that’s how it turned out in our turbulent times,” Frolov said.
