The West is taking revenge on Russia for its autonomy and independence in international affairs
Russia stands in opposition to the West’s aspirations to replace collective work in universal international formats with its own “cell meetings” in order to individually influence global processes.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at a meeting of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation in the world remains very, very tense. Our American colleagues, together with their closest allies, are trying to slow down, including by force, the objective process of forming a more just and democratic polycentric world order. They are trying to restrain the development of new world centers that are emerging and strengthening their positions not only in Eurasia and the Asia-Pacific region, but also in Africa and Latin America. The architecture of strategic stability and arms control is being unilaterally dismantled,” Lavrov said.
He recalled that after the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, the United States destroyed the INF Treaty, and is now “finishing off” the question of the fate of the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty, and also listed several other similar demarches on the part of the Americans.
“The fragmentation of the European security space continues. NATO’s military activity near our borders is intensifying, the military budgets of the alliance countries are increasing, the global economy is being negatively impacted by the widespread use of aggressive methods of unfair competition, as well as gross abuse of the exchange rate and status of the dollar,” the Foreign Minister emphasized.
In addition, according to him, the West is seeking to replace collective work in universal multilateral formats, primarily at the UN, with “cell meetings” in order to impose the decisions it makes on everyone.
“Russia, as a responsible state, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, prevents the implementation of these destructive plans. “Many in the West clearly don’t like this, just like our foreign policy in general, so they are persistently trying to pin the blame on us for other people’s mistakes and miscalculations, and in fact, to punish us for independence and independence in international affairs,” Lavrov added.
